In a landmark moment for gender inclusion in governance, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri received the 21 newly appointed women Vice Chairpersons representing each of the Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Adamawa State.
Governor Fintiri emphasized the significance of this achievement, noting that it is the first time in the nation’s history that such a large number of women have been entrusted with leadership positions at the local government level. “This is a historic feat, as never before in our nation’s history have women been given such ample space in governance,” Governor Fintiri remarked during the meeting.
He urged the Vice-Chairpersons to uphold high standards in their duties and remain role models for their communities. “I charged them to be women of good virtues and to redouble their efforts in serving their localities and womenfolk with excellence,” the Governor added.
This milestone is seen as a reflection of Governor Fintiri’s commitment to promoting gender equity and enhancing women’s participation in leadership across the state.
